Mumbai witnessed a dramatic day as fires broke out in two distinct areas, prompting swift action from the city's fire services. In one incident, a massive blaze erupted in the slum area of Goregaon on Thursday evening, around 7:30 pm, as reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Officials described the incident as a level-2 fire, with nearly 150-200 hutments engulfed in flames.
Thanks to the rapid response by firefighting teams, the fire was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported. The BMC confirmed that despite the severity of the situation, the blaze was successfully doused, ensuring the safety of residents.
In another part of the city, a fire broke out earlier at Freemasons Hall in the Fort area. Four fire tenders were deployed to the site to manage and contain the blaze. Firefighting operations were diligently carried out, and there have been no reported casualties from this incident either. The back-to-back fire events highlighted the urgent need for consistent safety measures and preparedness in urban centers.
