Nepali Students Return to KIIT Amid Ongoing Inquiry into Student's Death

After the tragic death of a Nepali student, those from Nepal have returned to KIIT. The institution has set up a control room for communication with parents. Meanwhile, an inquiry continues, requiring the institute's founder to provide evidence. Diplomatic efforts focus on justice and safety for the students.

Nepali students have started to return to Bhubaneswar's Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) following the unfortunate death of a fellow student. Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, the Additional Registrar, confirmed this development, highlighting the institution's efforts to stay connected with concerned parents through a dedicated control room.

Dr. Behura explained, "The Nepali students are coming back. We have a dedicated control room to ensure a seamless connection with their parents. Video conferencing has been organized to reassure the parents, who are now agreeable to sending their wards back. Classes have recommenced, and operations are back to normal."

Simultaneously, a High-Level Committee formed by the Odisha government is investigating the alleged suicide and subsequent university actions concerning the Nepali students. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the institute's founder, has been summoned to present evidence. The situation also prompted Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba to engage in diplomatic measures to demand justice and address student safety concerns.
