DRI Cracks Down on Fake Currency Operations Across India

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has dismantled seven fake currency printing facilities across India, confiscating significant contraband and arresting multiple individuals involved. Operations spanned several states including Maharashtra, Haryana, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar, uncovering sophisticated setups for producing counterfeit Indian currency notes.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has made a significant breakthrough by identifying and dismantling seven facilities involved in the printing of fake Indian currency notes (FICN), the finance ministry announced on Friday.

In an extensive operation conducted on February 20, the DRI carried out searches across 11 locations in Maharashtra, Haryana, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar, leading to the unearthing of sophisticated networks dedicated to counterfeit currency production.

Seized items included laptops, printers, restricted security paper, and other tools crucial for producing fake notes, resulting in several arrests and ongoing investigations under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for further legal action.
