In a landmark development, the Zomi and Kuki communities in Manipur have voluntarily surrendered 16 illegal arms and ammunition in the Churachandpur district. This action comes after an appeal by the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, according to a statement released by Assam Rifles.

Following the governor's appeal, joint efforts by the Assam Rifles, Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), State Intelligence Agencies, and State Administration reached out to local community leaders. These interactions addressed security concerns, assured safety, and stressed the positive outcomes of reducing weapon prevalence in the region.

The surrender, which took place on February 22, 2025, at Tuibong Village, involved a well-coordinated approach with top officials present from various security and administrative agencies.
