In a significant announcement, Vedanta Group chairman Anil Agarwal declared a massive investment of Rs 50,000 crore in the oil and gas industry of Assam and Tripura over the next three to four years, aiming to strengthen the region's economic landscape.
During the Advantage Assam investment summit, Agarwal revealed that Cairn Oil & Gas, a group firm, had already allocated Rs 2,500 crore to these northeastern states. He highlighted Assam's rich natural resources, positioning it as capable of evolving into a global mega basin.
This hefty investment is projected to enable the production of 100,000 barrels of oil and gas daily, cementing Assam and Tripura as a hydrocarbon hub while generating a plethora of employment opportunities for the local youth.
