Advantage Assam 2.0: Charting a Path to Economic Transformation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit in Guwahati, highlighting the state's economic growth and potential. He emphasized Assam's strategic role in India's development and the global economic landscape, underscoring a range of reforms including infrastructure investments and 'Make in India' initiatives aimed at boosting local manufacturing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati, emphasizing the state's economic growth under BJP governance, with its economy doubling to Rs6 lakh crore. He hailed the initiative as a strategic campaign to connect global opportunities with Assam's potential, as Eastern India's future takes shape.

Modi underlined India's efforts to fortify its local supply chains and expand global trade agreements, particularly with East Asia and through the India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor. He noted that despite global challenges, experts remain optimistic about India's growth, attributing this to the young workforce, middle class aspirations, and support for political stability.

Highlighting Assam's progression, Modi pointed out the doubling of the state's economy from Rs 2.75 lakh crore in 2018 to Rs6 lakh crore, credited to the 'double-engine' government. He also mentioned the significant increases in Assam's railway budget and ongoing investments in infrastructure, crucial for India's overall progress.

Discussing future goals, Modi addressed the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with Assam aiming for a Gross State Domestic Product of 143 billion USD by 2030. He commended the state’s potential and government dedication, noting its strategic position as a gateway between Southeast Asia and India, further boosted by the North-East Industrialization Transformation Plan, 'Unnati.'

The Prime Minister cited Assam's tea industry, a 200-year legacy, as a testament to the state’s ability to excel across sectors, underscoring its role in driving economic prominence. (ANI)
