Delhi Denial: AAP MLAs Blocked from Assembly Amidst Rising Tensions

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs staged a demonstration outside the Delhi Assembly on Thursday, protesting their blocked entry on the third day of the session under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. Leader of Opposition Atishi and fellow MLAs were reportedly halted by police at the Speaker's orders, setting the stage for a contentious start to the proceedings.

Atishi, speaking to ANI, condemned the actions as undemocratic, asserting that no precedent exists for such a blockade. Despite previous suspensions for chanting 'Jai Bhim,' she pointed out that protests in Parliament continue uninterrupted. She claimed, "Today, they are not even being allowed to enter the Vidhan Sabha premises," after multiple attempts to engage with the Speaker failed.

The Assembly Speaker had extended the suspension of 21 AAP MLAs for three days following protests against the alleged removal of photographs of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh. Reacting to their conduct, BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht criticized the AAP's behavior as inappropriate. Concurrently, BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay highlighted a CAG report's allegations of corruption against AAP, promising discussions on how the party purportedly favored close relatives at a cost to Delhi's revenue.
