In a tragic accident in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, eight individuals lost their lives and several sustained injuries when a passenger vehicle collided with a truck in the early hours of Monday, confirmed Chief Minister Mohan Yadav via a post on X. The incident took place near Upni village around 2:30 am as passengers were en route to Maihar to offer prayers.
The collision prompted police and senior officials to promptly arrive at the scene, facilitating the transfer of injured individuals to local hospitals. Expressing his condolences, CM Yadav revealed plans for financial assistance—Rs 2 lakh for families of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 50,000 for other injured individuals.
In statements to ANI and through his platform on X, CM Yadav urged drivers to exercise caution and take necessary precautions on the roads, especially at night. He acknowledged the rapid response of district officials and local citizens in managing the aftermath and ensuring that seriously injured passengers were referred to Rewa for better medical care.
