The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Kolkata, under the Ministry of Ayush, has initiated a landmark collaboration with Jadavpur University's School of Natural Product Studies to advance research in Ayurveda, specifically targeting diabetes management.
The two institutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a project titled 'Evaluation of Vidangadi Lauham, a Classical Ayurvedic Formulation in the Management of Diabetes in Experimental Animals.' This research seeks to substantiate the usage of Vidangadi Lauham by concentrating on the biophysical characterization and biological activity of medicinal plants.
The project underscores the necessity for a comprehensive database validating the health benefits of medicinal plants on a global scale. Its broader goal is to establish Ayurveda as a reliable and natural health-promoting option worldwide, particularly as it pertains to diabetes management, a growing global health issue.
