DMK Member of Parliament, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, on Monday submitted a notice against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, accusing him of breaching parliamentary privilege. The notice concerns Pradhan's remarks, deemed derogatory by Karunanidhi, in which he referred to Tamil Nadu MPs as 'uncivilised' during a parliamentary session.

In a media interaction, DMK MP Kanimozhi NV Somu expressed her discontent, emphasizing that such language is inappropriate and unacceptable towards elected officials. She claimed the ruling BJP is uncomfortable with the southern states' advancements, alleging it struggles to match their growth, exacerbating regional tensions.

The incident reflects ongoing strife between southern states and the central government over education policies, especially regarding the National Education Policy's imposition of Hindi. DMK leaders have also criticized the potential reduction of southern parliamentary seats, further fueling concerns about centralized political decisions overshadowing state autonomy.
