India's Solar Revolution: PM Surya Ghar Initiative Powers Over 1 Million Homes
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana surpasses a milestone by solarizing over 1 million homes. Launched by PM Modi in 2024 with a Rs 75,021 crore budget, this largest rooftop solar initiative aims to reach 1 crore homes by 2027, promoting sustainability, affordability, and local production.

In a significant leap towards a sustainable energy future, the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana has successfully solarized over 1 million households, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi.
This ambitious project, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2024, is the world's largest domestic rooftop solar program. With a vision to transform India's energy landscape, it aims to supply solar power to one crore households by March 2027.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has facilitated the installation of over 3 GW of solar capacity as of March 10, driving not only energy accessibility but also local production of essential components.
