In a significant infrastructure development, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced a plan to establish a gas insulated substation in South Kashmir's Pahalgam. This initiative is part of the region's comprehensive transmission plan spanning 2022 to 2027, aimed at bolstering the electrical grid systems.

Addressing a query from NC MLA Altaf Ahmad Wani, Abdullah detailed that the phased implementation of projects under this plan, including the Batkote Grid Station, will hinge on load growth assessments and technical feasibility studies to ensure informed decision-making.

Abdullah emphasized that land acquisition processes are currently in progress, with guidelines from the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission playing a pivotal role in shaping project execution modes, particularly in view of competitive pricing and compliance with the latest power tariff regulations.
