West Bengal is set to enhance its power infrastructure as Power Minister Aroop Biswas committed to providing 24x7 quality electricity across the state. A planned investment of over Rs 4,116 crore underscores the government's dedication to energy improvements.
The state continues to support lifeline customers through the 'Hasir Alo' initiative, offering free electricity to households with minimal connection needs. This scheme benefits approximately 40 lakh consumers annually at a cost of Rs 200 crore.
To address the anticipated growth in demand, the West Bengal government has awarded JSW Energy Ltd a substantial project to build a 2x800 MW thermal plant in Salboni, under the PPP model, marking a major milestone in the region's industrial expansion.
