The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman, Manoj Kumar, has hailed the 'Khadi Revolution' as a transformative force in the lives of artisans over the past decade, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Speaking at a press conference, Kumar revealed that the Commission has approved a 20% wage hike for Khadi artisans starting April 1, 2025, marking a significant pay increase for spinners and weavers.
Kumar highlighted the rapid increase in Khadi wages, noting a historic 275% rise in the past 11 years. He announced that the Maha Kumbh 2025 would feature a national-level Khadi and Village Industries Exhibition in Prayagraj, celebrating substantial sales of Khadi products worth Rs 12.02 crore and showcasing the sector's growth under PM Modi's 'Khadi Revolution.'
The Khadi movement has gained momentum with Prime Minister Modi's 'Khadi for Fashion' mantra. Fashion shows across cities, including Nagpur and Chennai, have popularized Khadi as a modern garment, especially among younger audiences.
