In a significant move to strengthen India's economic stature, the government has rolled out a series of initiatives designed to enhance domestic capacities and boost exports. This strategic effort, outlined by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, focuses on diversifying supply chains, exploring alternative import sources, and fostering economic resilience.

The forthcoming Foreign Trade Policy, effective from April 1, 2023, is set to better integrate India into the global market, enhance its trade competitiveness, and position the country as a dependable trade partner. In line with this, 65 Export Facilitation Centres (EFCs) have been established across India to mentor and support exporters, particularly MSMEs, in accessing international markets.

Moreover, various schemes such as the Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES) and the Market Access Initiatives (MAI) Scheme are in place to promote exports. Key labor-oriented sectors are further supported through the Rebate of State and Central Levies and Taxes (RoSCTL) Scheme. Expanding its reach, the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme now includes steel, pharma, and chemical sectors, with a budget allocation of Rs16,575 crores for FY 2024-25.
