A massive gathering of supporters was witnessed outside the residence of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) commenced searches concerning the Mahadev betting app case. The investigative team spent 14 hours conducting searches at his home.
Baghel expressed concern over the political motives behind the raids, stating these were intended to provide material for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forthcoming speech. He revealed that the CBI seized original documents without providing copies, highlighting the failure to arrest key suspect Saurabh Chandrakar despite a lookout notice.
Congress leader Sushil Anand Shukla claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was employing central agencies to sabotage Baghel's trip to Delhi. Similarly, Congress MP K Suresh accused the BJP of misusing agencies like the CBI and ED against political adversaries. Amidst these tense developments, central agencies continue to probe a major alleged liquor scam.
