Mizoram's Egg Production Leap: Foundation Laid for Mega Farm

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has initiated a Rs 20.64-crore mega egg production farm in Thenzawl, aiming to address the state's egg consumption needs. Alongside, a Bailey bridge in Dilpui and a mithun conservation center were also inaugurated. The farm is anticipated to produce 70,000 eggs daily, reducing import reliance.

Mizoram's Chief Minister Lalduhoma marked a significant agricultural milestone on Thursday by laying the foundation stone for a Rs 20.64-crore mega egg production farm in Thenzawl, Serchhip district. This initiative seeks to meet the state's substantial egg consumption needs.

In addition to the egg farm, Lalduhoma inaugurated a Bailey bridge in Dilpui, known for its natural lake and appeal as a tourist spot. He also launched a center dedicated to the conservation of mithun, a notable bovine species in the region.

Speaking at the event, Lalduhoma highlighted the state's import dependency, noting that Mizoram spends over Rs 22 crore annually on eggs. The new farm is expected to produce 70,000 eggs daily, a major step towards self-sufficiency. The ceremony saw participation from prominent figures including Animal Husbandry Minister C. Lalsawivunga and Rural Development Minister Lalnilawma.
