Uttarakhand has clinched a substantial financial backing, amounting to Rs 1910 crore, from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for urban infrastructure advancements. This was confirmed by officials on Thursday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the government's ongoing commitment to boosting infrastructure, aiming to enhance cleanliness and provide clean drinking water across urban areas.

The agreement marks a significant triumph under Chief Minister Dhami's administration, following extensive negotiations involving the Government of India, the Uttarakhand Government, and the EIB. The partnership will see projects worth Rs 1910 crore rolled out, with project records slated for signing in June 2025 and the subsequent initiation of the tender process.

The proposed investments will enhance drinking water and sewerage facilities in Pithoragarh and improve the water supply systems in Sitarganj, Rudrapur, and Kashipur. These plans have already seen their detailed project reports meticulously prepared. In related developments, discussions were held virtually involving key officials, including Mrs. Aparna Bhatia from the Department of Economic Affairs and Mr. Maximilian from EIB, both of whom have lauded the project preparation efforts by the Uttarakhand Urban Area Development Agency.
