Himachal Pradesh Govt Ensures Safety of Students Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to discuss the safety concerns of Himachali students studying in Jammu & Kashmir due to tensions between India and Pakistan. The state government assures prompt action for student safety while maintaining internal security.

Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday to highlight the concerns of Himachali students studying in Jammu & Kashmir as tensions escalate between India and Pakistan.

Pathania informed the Chief Minister that the families of 103 students currently in the region are deeply worried about their safety. In response, the Chief Minister promised that the state government would ensure the well-being of the students and directed the Chief Secretary to coordinate their safe return.

Meanwhile, Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi reassured media in Shimla that while Himachal Pradesh does not border Pakistan directly, security measures are in place, particularly in areas bordering China, like Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. He confirmed that the region remains peaceful despite recent tensions and noted protective measures for local hydro power projects.

The comments come amid heightened tensions following Pakistan's drone and missile attacks on India's western border and India's Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan. International stakeholders continue to call for diplomatic engagement to avoid further escalation.
