Maharashtra's New M-Sand Policy: A Sustainable Shift in Construction

Maharashtra's cabinet has approved a new M-Sand Policy to promote artificial sand as a sustainable alternative in construction, reducing environmental impact caused by natural sand excavation. The policy includes incentives for M-Sand units, encouraging their production and use, while offering subsidies and support to ensure compliance with environmental standards.

In a bid to curb the environmental degradation associated with natural sand mining, the Maharashtra cabinet has launched the M-Sand Policy. The initiative is set to revolutionize the construction sector by promoting artificial sand as a sustainable substitute.

Under this new policy, up to 50 M-Sand units per district will be established with industrial support, receiving Rs 200 per brass subsidy, a notable reduction from the Rs 600 per brass for natural sand. The aim is to alleviate ecological stress while bolstering the industry with financial incentives.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the policy, which mandates compliance with quality and environmental regulations, would prioritize M-Sand in public projects. This initiative is poised to generate employment and ensure environmental conservation, symbolizing progress in balancing industrial growth with ecological responsibility.
