BSF Foils Smuggling Attempts, Introduces New Climate-Specific Uniforms

The BSF has successfully thwarted smuggling attempts along the India-Bangladesh border, arresting five smugglers and seizing contraband worth over Rs 20 lakh. The Border Security Force (BSF) recently disrupted several smuggling operations along the India-Bangladesh border, effectively stymieing criminal activities in the region. Officials reported the arrest of five cattle smugglers and the seizure of contraband, including mobile phones and foreign goods valued over Rs 20 lakh.

A pivotal operation unfolded at the Border Outpost (BOP) Dholakcheri in South Tripura district, where BSF troops intercepted and apprehended five smugglers. Alongside, they successfully retrieved 12 cattle from the suspects' possession. This strategic operation took place on June 14, around 3:45 PM, with the accused identified as residents of the South Tripura and Gomati districts.

In a separate incident, BSF personnel at BOP Nirbhoypur in West Tripura district thwarted an attempt to smuggle 47 brand new mobile phones worth approximately Rs 10 lakh across the border. The miscreants were intercepted as they attempted to hurl the consignment over the border fence into Bangladesh, showcasing the BSF's rapid response capabilities.

Simultaneously, the Border Security Force is set to adopt new uniforms designed to match India's diverse climatic conditions. Deputy Inspector General (North) Yogendra Singh Rathore highlighted the modifications, which include an 80 percent cotton and 20 percent polyester fabric composition, and a new color scheme. The overhaul aims to enhance comfort and operational efficiency, with significant changes in texture, color, and additional features such as unique patterns and logos.
