In a grand celebration marking the 11th International Yoga Day, Gujarat set a new Guinness World Record with 2,121 practitioners performing Bhujangasana simultaneously at Vadnagar's Sharmishtha Lake, the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event, presided over by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, celebrated the theme 'Yog for One Earth, One Health.'
The festivities emphasized Gujarat's vision of becoming a 'Healthy, Obesity-Free State.' Chief Minister Patel, joined by dignitaries such as Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, underscored the global recognition yoga has gained under PM Modi's leadership. Participants watched Modi's inspiring live address from Visakhapatnam.
Highlighting yoga's importance, Patel described it as more than exercise; it's an ancient practice integrating body, mind, and spirit. With approximately 1.5 crore participants across the state, the celebration reflects Modi's public health initiatives and aims for a healthier, more prosperous Gujarat by 2047, rooted in rich cultural traditions.
