Swiss energy firm Axpo has suspended operations at a second reactor at the Beznau nuclear plant, prompted by rising river temperatures. The shutdown came shortly after the company ceased operations at the plant's first reactor.

The decision to halt Block 2 operations was announced on Wednesday evening, aimed at preventing further temperature increases in the Aare River and protecting its delicate ecosystem.
