In a daring late-night operation, police apprehended a notorious criminal in East Delhi's Ghazipur following a confrontation that left him injured, officials revealed on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Khemchand, has a history of violent attacks on police and robberies.

Deputy Commissioner of Police East, Abhishek Dhania, recounted that in the early hours of July 18, two officers on routine patrol in Anand Vihar encountered suspicious activity. Their attempt to verify three men on a two-wheeler turned violent, resulting in injuries to both officers and theft of police property, prompting an immediate investigation.

Following specific intelligence, the police organized a strategic raid on July 21, anticipating Khemchand's criminal plans in the Paper Market area. Despite efforts to evade capture, Khemchand engaged in a gunfight with police, resulting in his injury and arrest. The operation, which also led to the recovery of weapons and a stolen motorcycle, is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the region.
