Dutch Government Takes Firm Stance Against Israeli Ministers

The Dutch government condemns the situation in Gaza, banning travel for far-right Israeli ministers and supporting potential EU sanctions if Israel violates agreements. This follows similar actions by other countries.

The Dutch government has decided to summon Israel's ambassador to the Netherlands in response to what it describes as the 'unbearable and indefensible' situation in Gaza. In a letter released on Monday, the government disclosed that travel bans have been imposed on two far-right Israeli cabinet ministers.

Specifically, ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have been barred from entering the Netherlands. The Dutch government accuses the ministers of inciting violence against Palestinians and calling for an 'ethnic cleansing' of the Gaza Strip.

This move aligns with actions taken by several other nations, including Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Norway, over the past month. Furthermore, the Dutch government supports the EU's recommendation to limit Israeli access to its flagship research funding program and indicates it will advocate for European trade sanctions should Israel breach its agreement with the EU regarding aid supplies.
