Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given the green light to a massive procurement plan for oilseeds and pulses, a move aimed at ensuring fair prices for farmers in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.

The approved plans, under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) and Market Intervention Scheme (MIS), are scheduled for the Kharif 2025-26 season, with a projected procurement value exceeding Rs 9,700 crore.

In Rajasthan, the minister has sanctioned purchases worth Rs 9,436 crore, including crops such as moong, urad, groundnut, and soyabean. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh's approved procurement covers groundnut and onions, valued at Rs 270.71 crore and Rs 24.47 crore, respectively.
