Following a decisive win in the Bihar Assembly elections, a reshuffled cabinet assumed office, featuring new recruits like Janata Dal (United) MLA Ashok Choudhary taking charge of the Rural Works Department. Choudhary was reappointed in the wake of NDA's electoral success.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Shreyasi Singh, a prominent new face in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's team, has been appointed as Bihar's Information Technology and Sports Minister. Singh has vowed to tackle persistent issues such as unemployment and migration, proposing to implement new policies to boost local sporting talent.
Nitish Kumar has stepped down from the Home department, now led by Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary. This marks a significant change since Kumar retained the Home portfolio since assuming power in 2005. Several BJP leaders have been assigned key roles. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha will manage Land, Revenue, Geology, and Mines; Mangal Pandey oversees Health and Law; Nitin Nabin heads Roads and Urban; and Vijay Kumar Sinha is responsible for Land and Revenue.
