ACME Solar Holdings announced on Monday that it has secured a major victory by winning a 130 MW capacity tender to provide continuous renewable energy for the Railways. The tender, floated by the Railway Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL), saw ACME Solar emerge as the successful bidder.

The company placed a winning bid of Rs 4.35 per unit in what was an extremely competitive e-reverse auction process. The energy procurement is crucial for Indian Railways, which depends on a consistent and reliable power supply due to its unique load requirements. ACME Solar will directly enter into a power purchase agreement with Indian Railways, eliminating intermediaries.

This project underscores the competitiveness of renewable energy, with ACME Solar required to supply this energy from co-located solar, wind, and energy storage systems. The company is tasked with ensuring at least 75% availability in the initial three years following commissioning, increasing to 85% thereafter, achieving this through their well-established EPC and O&M capabilities.
