Escalating Drone Warfare: Ukraine's Aerial Offensive on Russia

Tensions in Eastern Europe have escalated as Russia claimed on Thursday that Ukraine launched a major drone assault, reportedly taking down 287 drones across various regions, including the Moscow area.

According to Russia's defence ministry, about 40 drones were intercepted over Moscow and its surroundings, home to over 22 million people. The extent of the damage remains unclear, but flight services from Moscow's primary airports faced disruptions.

The conflict, initiated by Russia's invasion in February 2022, sees Ukraine striking back by targeting Russia's energy sector, recently incapacitating a tanker in the Black Sea. This has prompted a surge in war insurance costs for ships, as insurers reevaluate risk daily.
