Congress General Secretary and MP KC Venugopal on Friday expressed profound grief at the passing of esteemed Congress leader and former Union Minister Shivraj Patil. Describing him as one of India's most successful Home Ministers, Venugopal highlighted Patil's notable contributions to the country's political landscape. Patil, aged 90, passed away at his Latur residence.
Earlier in the day, Congress stalwart Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, took to social media to mourn the 'irreparable loss' of Shivraj Patil. Gandhi praised Patil's unwavering dedication to public service, emphasizing the senior Congress leader's lasting impact on both the nation and the party. Expressing condolences, he extended heartfelt sympathies to Patil's family, their well-wishers, and supporters.
Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi also expressed deep sorrow over Patil's passing. Speaking to ANI, Gogoi reflected on Patil's significant legacy in Indian politics and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family.
