Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Assam from December 20 to 21. The focal points of this two-day trip include inaugurating the Bamboo Orchids Terminal 2 at Guwahati Airport and laying the groundwork for a major brownfield ammonia-urea plant in Namrup, with a colossal investment of ₹12,000 crore.

The Bamboo Orchids Terminal 2 draws inspiration from local flora like the kopou phool and bamboo and aims to cater to 13.1 million passengers annually. This terminal is poised to drive economic integration and inclusive development across the eight northeastern states. Earlier, the terminal's design was disclosed at Advantage Assam 2.0 by Prime Minister Modi and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Aligning with these advancements, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal conducted a preparation review at the Namrup site, where the new fertilizer plant will take shape. As a significant industrial boost, the Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited project will augment fertilizer supply throughout Northeast and eastern India.
