In a swift operation, police in Cuttack have apprehended Tushar Mahanti, who allegedly stole Rs 5000 from a shopkeeper at gunpoint. The arrest was made after police scrutinized CCTV footage, which confirmed Mahanti as the perpetrator. He had posed as a customer before committing the robbery.
According to ACP Ashok Kumar Giri, Mahanti's modus operandi involved threatening the unsuspecting shopkeeper with a pistol and making a quick escape with the cash. The incident took place in the Puri Ghat area on Thursday, prompting a prompt investigation by law enforcement.
The police managed to recover Rs 3000 and two mobile phones from Mahanti. While Mahanti faces previous charges, authorities caution against labeling him as part of a gang. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details. Mahanti is set to appear in court tomorrow.
