On Thiruvalluvar Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized the enduring influence of the renowned Tamil poet and philosopher, Thiruvalluvar, with heartfelt tributes. This commemorative day, observed on January 16 in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, highlights Thiruvalluvar's significant contributions to Tamil literature and philosophy.

Prime Minister Modi lauded Thiruvalluvar's ideals of harmony and compassion, urging the nation to delve into his seminal work, the Tirukkural, for intellectual enrichment. Concurrently, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister TRB Rajaa called for deeper cultural understanding from the central government, criticizing superficial acknowledgments by BJP leaders.

Rajaa emphasized the need for genuine engagement with Tamil culture, stressing that Tamil Nadu follows a unique calendar aligning with natural cycles rather than fixed English dates. His comments reflect ongoing tensions over cultural awareness, as he clarified that Pongal and Thiruvalluvar Day are separate traditional observances in the region.
