Thrilling Atlantic Dash: MOD70 Argo Smashes RORC Transatlantic Race Record

The MOD70 Argo, skippered by Chad Corning, has shattered records in the RORC Transatlantic Race, completing the sweeping voyage from Lanzarote to Antigua in under five days. This remarkable journey secured Multihull Line Honours, as Argo rewrote the record books in the fierce, trade-wind-driven competition.

The American trimaran triumphantly crossed the finish line outside English Harbour, Antigua, on Friday at 1231 GMT, achieving the gruelling Lanzarote-to-Antigua route in just 4 days, 23 hours, 51 minutes and 15 seconds. Argo's performance, led by a six-man crew, now serves as a new milestone for the RORC Transatlantic Race.

This biennial event, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, stands as one of offshore sailing's leading races since its 2014 relaunch. With a course that stretches approximately 3,000 nautical miles from Lanzarote to the Caribbean, it attracts elite sailors and ambitious amateurs eager to face the demanding conditions of sustained trade-wind sailing.
