Soma Munda, known locally as 'Adel Sanga Padha Raja' and a key leader of 22 villages, was brutally murdered on January 7th amidst a land dispute involving 3.16 acres in Jiarappa village. The incident occurred on the Namkum-Jamuadag Road while he was traveling with his wife.

In response, Laxmi Narayan Munda, a notable social activist, has rallied more than 20 tribal organizations to call for a Jharkhand bandh on January 17th. Geetashree Oraon, a former state education minister, confirmed that the protest has gathered support from a wide array of tribal groups.
