As Uttarakhand marks the first anniversary of the Uniform Civil Code's implementation, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lauded the legislation, emphasizing its foundational role in fostering equality and social harmony across the state. He extended congratulations to residents, highlighting the code as a pivotal step towards ensuring equal rights for women.

The Uniform Civil Code Day is observed on January 27 in Uttarakhand, commemorating its status as the first Indian state to adopt such a code. Chief Minister Dhami noted that the UCC has significantly enhanced women's safety and empowerment, with increased efficiency in marriage registrations and citizen services due to AI-based assistance in 23 languages.

In January, the state government enacted the Uniform Civil Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, refining the UCC Act, 2024. Chief Minister Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah for inspiring the law, stressing its visible impact on reducing discrimination and improving governance.
