Himachal Pradesh Weather Alert: Rain and Snowfall Hit; Temperatures Dip Sharply

Senior Scientist at the India Meteorological Department, Sandeep Kumar Sharma, announced notable weather activity in Himachal Pradesh due to an active western disturbance. Rain and snowfall have impacted regions such as Kangra and Mandi, with Kothi in Kullu district recording the highest snowfall of 15 cm and Kangra and Mandi witnessing the highest rainfall.
Sharma detailed that these weather changes have led to a significant temperature drop in these areas, with a notable decrease of up to seven degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms further accompanied the rainfall in parts of Mandi and Kangra, while cold wave-like conditions prevailed in Manali and Mandi.
Looking ahead, Sharma forecast that higher altitudes, including Kullu and Spiti, might experience further rain and light snowfall until February 8, with a temporary western disturbance expected on February 6. Meanwhile, Telangana temperatures are rising, easing previous cold conditions, although morning fog persists affecting travel visibility.
