The Uttarakhand Police convened a crucial high-level meeting on Tuesday to inspect and address crime and law enforcement issues across the region. The session, held at Sardar Patel Bhawan under the leadership of DGP Deepam Seth, drew attendance from senior police officials, including district heads and Special Task Force members.
In the meeting, a thorough assessment of the criminal landscape, investigation progress, and public grievance handling was carried out. Following this, stern directions were issued. In light of a fatal shooting of a woman in Rishikesh, Dehradun, AIIMS Chowki In-charge SI Sahil Vashisht was suspended immediately due to negligence. Similarly, SI Pradyumn Negi faced suspension for apparent negligence in another female murder case in Dehradun's Kotwali Nagar.
Given the grave nature of crimes against women, both cases have been reassigned to SP Crime Vishakha Ashok Bhadane with a report due in seven days. Furthermore, serious negligence led to SI Surat Sharma's suspension after a violent group conflict in Haridwar. Investigations continue under SP Crime Jitendra Mehra. Addressing systemic issues, the DGP mandated CO-level reviews for land fraud cases to ensure they are addressed swiftly and effectively.
