Nakodar Police Busts Extortion Plot, Apprehends Two in Dramatic Chase

The accused were identified as Ankit Kumar and Harinder Gupta, who allegedly targeted a local businessman for extortion. The operation involved a police shootout and resulted in injuries to both suspects.

In a significant breakthrough, Nakodar Police have successfully thwarted a firing plot, apprehending two individuals involved in an extortion case linked to threats from international gang members. The arrested suspects, Ankit Kumar and Harinder Gupta, both residing in Ludhiana, were connected to the extortion attempt of local businessman Manish Bakshi.
Bakshi, a seasoned travel and academic entrepreneur, faced a series of threats over a 5 crore rupee extortion demand by callers claiming links to notorious gangs. Following the initial threats, shots were fired at his office, prompting police to launch a detailed operation under SSP Jalandhar Rural S. Harvinder Singh Virk's guidance.
The decisive police action unfolded when officers ambushed the suspects on a countryside road. Despite being fired upon, the police exercised restraint, injuring and apprehending the suspects. A .30 bore pistol and ammunition were recovered. The investigation continues, with authorities pledging strict legal measures against those involved.
