India's Trailblazers: Brave Climbers Embark on Historic Aconcagua Expedition

In a significant stride for Indian mountaineering, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday flagged off a joint expedition to Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest peak in South America and the tallest mountain outside Asia, measuring 6,961 metres.
The expedition, a collaboration between the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi, and the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM&WS), Pahalgam, was praised by Singh for fostering a spirit of leadership, teamwork, and resilience among participants. He expressed his confidence in the team, emphasizing their role in exemplifying courage and endurance on a global stage. The team comprises six skilled instructors, including Col Hem Chandra Singh, Capt G Santhosh Kumar, and Deep Bahadur Sahi.
The expedition is set to commence Friday, February 6, and is anticipated to conclude by month's end. This mission not only showcases India's growing footprint in adventure activities but also seeks to enrich the training framework for youths and defense personnel across the nation, contributing to India's reputation in global mountaineering circles.
