In a significant move to enhance horticultural productivity, the Himachal Pradesh Government has earmarked Rs 4.57 crore under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission for Una district's financial year 2026-27. The initiative aims to bolster fruit production while supporting local farmers with vital resources and equipment.
Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal detailed the allocation during a review meeting, specifying that Rs 57.88 lakh will be devoted to a micro-irrigation system, while polyhouses and hybrid structures will receive Rs 2.37 crore to encourage protective farming. Notably, horticultural machinery and equipment have been allocated Rs 16 lakh, and refrigerated transport vehicles have Rs 15 lakh set aside.
Highlighting the importance of horticulture in Una's economic landscape, Lal emphasized efficient and transparent distribution of these resources. Efforts will focus on ensuring timely supply of quality seedlings, pest control solutions, and modern technology. Officials are urged to intensify field visits, amplify scheme awareness, and promptly address horticultural issues.
