The Haryana government is urging sugarcane farmers to embrace new technologies in light of a decreasing area under cultivation. Cooperation Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma emphasized the benefits of these technologies in reducing cultivation costs and increasing incomes.
An online token system has been implemented across all cooperative sugar mills, allowing farmers to efficiently schedule their deliveries and save significant time. During the Haryana Vidhan Sabha's Budget session, concerns were raised about the declining sugarcane yield, prompting further discussion on solutions.
The government is proposing subsidies and incentives in the 2026-27 budget to motivate the adoption of advanced farming methods. This includes increased financial support for wide row spacing and providing free sugarcane seeding for tissue culture adopters, aiming to sustain the sugarcane sector in Haryana.
