In a devastating overnight assault, Russia launched a formidable barrage of drones and missiles against Ukraine, inflicting significant damage on infrastructure and claiming the lives of seven individuals, including two children, in the northeastern city of Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian officials. Notably, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy revealed that Russia had targeted the country's energy sector and railway infrastructure with 480 drones and 29 missiles.
President Zelenskiy issued an urgent plea for international support, expressing that "partners should respond to these savage strikes against life," and emphasizing that "support should continue," as Russia persists in its efforts to demolish Ukraine's residential and critical infrastructure.
Despite the successful interception of 453 drones and 19 missiles by Ukrainian air defense units, nine missiles and 26 drones managed to strike 22 locations.
