In a strong condemnation at the United Nations, Iran's Ambassador Amir-Saeid Iravani accused the United States of committing a war crime by sinking the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena, which he described as an act of aggression violating international law. The attack occurred nearly 2,000 miles from Iran's coast, he stated.
Iravani urged the UN Security Council to intervene against what he alleged as a US-Israel military campaign targeting Iran. He called for immediate condemnation and action to halt these aggressions and ensure accountability for the violations of international humanitarian law.
Concurrent with Iravani's statements, Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi condemned US strikes impacting Iranian civilians, warning of inevitable retaliation targeting US bases. The outrage follows missile strikes on a primary school in Hormozgan province, believed to be orchestrated by US forces, that resulted in significant casualties.
