In a significant show of defiance, members of the Karnataka State Farmers' Association, known as the Green Sene, gathered on Monday in front of the Tumkur District Collector's Office. Donning their symbolic green shawls, the farmers demanded government attention to their array of grievances in a dharna characterized by its intensity.

Protesters from across the district brought traffic to a halt, rallying against policies they view as detrimental to farmers' interests. The centerpiece of their demands is a reassessment of the amendment to the Land Reforms Act, which they argue endangers their traditional rights and food security by allowing non-farmers to purchase agricultural lands.

Adding further demands, the protestors insist on a complete ban of mining activities in agricultural zones, citing threats to soil and water viability. The Green Sene's leadership has vowed to continue the dharna until the government provides written commitments to address these critical issues, marking it not just a protest, but a fight for agricultural sustainability.
