Kavinder Gupta, the former Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, officially assumed the role of Governor of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, marking his commitment to act as a unifying force between the state and central government. His tenure will prioritize leveraging the state's vast tourism potential and fostering youth empowerment.
During a press briefing in Shimla, Gupta noted his previous seven-and-a-half-month term in Ladakh, vowing to transcend party politics and collaborate with all stakeholders for the state's advancement. He emphasized Himachal Pradesh's promising future in religious tourism and pledged to harness this potential.
Gupta highlighted the ecological importance of Himachal's green cover and its pivotal role in environmental protection. Addressing youth development, he advocated for entrepreneurship to harness the country's youthful demographic. Gupta also intends to combat drug abuse, stressing the joint responsibility of society and government in guiding the youth through education, technology, and sports.
