President Murmu Hosts MPs and Advocates for Women's Role in Agriculture

President Droupadi Murmu met MPs from several states for breakfast at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. Delhi's new Lt Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, also met with her. President Murmu later attended a global conference emphasizing the need for increased women's roles in the agri-food sector.

President Droupadi Murmu welcomed Members of Parliament from states including Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, and Delhi to a breakfast meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on Friday. In attendance were representatives from states such as Chandigarh, Ladakh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi.

Lt Governor of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu also paid a visit to President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan shortly after. Sandhu, who recently took office, expressed his gratitude for the President's insightful guidance through a post on his official social media account.

This meeting followed the official swearing-in of Sandhu as the new Lt Governor, part of a broader reshuffle of governors and lieutenant governors nationwide. On Thursday, President Murmu presided over the opening session of the Global Conference on the Role of Women in Agri-Food Systems in New Delhi, advocating for greater female involvement in the agricultural policy and leadership.
