India's Bold Move: $3.63 Billion Boost to Industrial Parks
India's cabinet has approved 336.60 billion rupees to develop 100 industrial parks, aiming to enhance domestic manufacturing. These parks will emerge through state collaboration. Additionally, India will allocate 117 billion rupees to support cotton prices for the 2023-24 season.
In a significant move to bolster India's manufacturing sector, the government has earmarked 336.60 billion rupees ($3.63 billion) for the development of 100 industrial parks. Information Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the parks will be established through joint ventures with state administrations and a state-run entity.
Industry Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia elaborated on the ambitious plan, noting that approximately 33,000 acres of land will be designated for manufacturing purposes over the next six years. The government will provide up to 10 million rupees per acre in financial aid for both core and social infrastructure across the parks, which will vary in size from 100 to 1,000 acres.
In addition to the parks, the cabinet has sanctioned 117 billion rupees to ensure minimum support prices for cotton in the 2023-24 crop season, according to Minister Vaishnaw. This move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector while fostering industrial growth.
