Chouhan Calls for Comprehensive Farmer Scheme Overhaul

Emphasizing full coverage under PM-AASHA, he urged checks on fertiliser hoarding, and implementation of Aadhaar-linked procurement systems. Regional conferences and field campaigns were also announced.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a strategic virtual meeting on Wednesday, focusing on bridging the significant gaps in farmer registration, fertiliser distribution, and pulse procurement under the PM-AASHA initiative.

In a decisive move, Chouhan urged all states to expand farmer registration beyond PM-Kisan beneficiaries to achieve 100% coverage within six months. The Agriculture Minister also voiced stern opposition to fertiliser hoarding and illegal movement, particularly in border areas, prompting stricter enforcement measures. He advocated for a technology-driven distribution system to ensure fair access, alongside promoting organic farming practices.

Praising Haryana's 'Meri Fasal, Mera Byora' scheme, Chouhan proposed it as a model for replication. Other discussions focused on stringent MSP procurement standards, involving Aadhaar-linked registration and DBT payments. He announced the commencement of regional agriculture conferences and field campaigns to enhance soil health and balanced fertiliser use.
