The Punjab government has officially rolled out the 'Mukhya Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana', a scheme designed to provide financial assistance ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per month to qualified women across the state. This initiative underscores the administration's commitment to improving women's financial security and independence.
Initially a campaign promise of the AAP during the 2022 Punjab elections, the scheme has been structured to include women from varied backgrounds, except those who are government employees or have filed income tax in the last fiscal year. Scheduled Caste women will receive Rs 1,500, while others will get Rs 1,000.
Financial assistance will be directly deposited into the recipients' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development will oversee the scheme's implementation, ensuring free registration and seamless fund disbursement at designated centers.
